Question: What are the historically most important castle or other similar places in the UK I may visit? If I can only visit one place, what would that singlemost important place in UK be? It has to be historic. What are other similar attractions? Thanks!
Answer: Warwick Castle (2h north of London) is probably the one you don't want to miss (center area remodeled but original structure from XII century I think). Google Warwick castle for details. The Tower of London (London central) is probably the oldest (XI century), built by William the Conqueror. Interior unfortunately remodeled with the ages and not as old as outside walls. Edinburgh Castle is gorgeous, around XII or XIII century. And down the street (1 mile away) is Holyroad Castle, very nice as well but much more recent (XVI or XVII century). Windsor Castle (close to London) where the Royal Family still lives is a definitive winner as well Blenheim Castle (when Churchill grew up) is very beautiful with gorgeous park (close to Oxford) In Wales, I would not miss Caernafon Castle (XII century). A ruin mostly but towers are still visitable. In Dover, the Castle is also very nice and old, and has the priviledge to mix both old age, with the proper castle, and modern times (World War II) with the army fortress in the cliffs.
